03 Feb Abbs Cross Academy and Loxford School Trust crowned London Youth Games Dance Champions

On Wednesday 3rd February 2016, two dance troupes from Abbs Cross Academy and Loxford School Trust made their way to the London Youth Games Dance finals.  The two troupes, entitled AX Jnrs and AX Dance Company were selected to represent the borough of Havering at The Copper Box Arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park during the regional heats two weeks before.

AX Jnrs are a group of 13 dancers from year 8 and 9 and AX Dance Company are a group of 12 dancers from year 10 and 11.

The London Youth Games Dance finals held two sections; The Junior Competition, running in the morning for 24 London boroughs and The Senior Competition, running in the afternoon for 23 London boroughs.

Judges included Dharmz from Street Dance 3 the Movie, Lena Dee, Lucy Carpenter and Curtis from Entity Allstars.

All schools displayed a range of styles, accompaniments and skills, giving us some tough competition.  Miss Monaghan, Head of Dance at Abbs Cross Academy and Loxford Trust Academy, says that both dance troupes performed with precision, passion and technique.  The performance skills and accuracy demonstrated were out of this world.

AX Jnrs and AX Dance Company were announced GOLD MEDALISTS for BOTH sections, Junior and Senior; receiving both medals and trophies for the school.

Well done and congratulations to AX Jnrs and AX Dance Company.
