23 May Boys Cricket Competition – Years 5 and 6
On Wednesday 17th May, the primary boys cricket competition for years 5 and 6 was held at Rainham Cricket Club.
After looking like it would be a complete wash out, we were thrilled that the competition went ahead. A fantastic 27 teams of boys or best took part – and the sun even made a brief appearance!
Year 9 leaders from Coopers, Marshalls Park, Gaynes, Hall Mead and Emerson Park umpired the matches with members of the cricket club facilitating the day.
The School Games Values awarded during the competition were for team work and passion:
Team work: Branfil, Newtons and St. Edwards supported each other and worked together to have fun and achieve their best.
Passion: Nelmes, Harold Court and St. Mary’s approached the competition with enthusiasm and positivity.
After the group stages and semi finals, the finalist were revealed as Upminster Juniors and Benhurst.
Congratulations to Benhurst for winning the competition. Benhurst will now progress to the Essex County Finals to be held at Billericay Cricket Club.
Upminster Juniors as runners up will go on to represent Havering in the London School Games. We wish both teams the very best of luck.
Thank you to all of the parents and teachers who accompanied and supported the children throughout the competition. Special thanks to Peter from Rainham Cricket Club for hosting the competition and ensuring its success.
