Girls Football

08 Feb Girls Football

On the 8th February 2018, twenty six girls football teams descended upon the Romford Play Football Centre for the School Games six a side competition.  The event was managed by a highly competent Chelsea Football Foundation team and started with pool games for all with lots of supporters cheering at the sidelines.

By lunchtime the quarter finalists were announced as St Mary’s, St Joseph’s, St Peter’s, Mead, Rise Park, Nelmes, Clockhouse and Parklands.

St Mary’s, St Joseph’s, St Peter’s and Parklands made it through to the semi finals with the final being contested between St Joseph’s and St Peter’s.  It was a closely fought match with St Peter’s coming out on top.  St Peter’s will now represent Havering at the School Games finals on the 20th March at Redbridge Sports Centre.

Throughout the day the Chelsea referees chose the recipients of the School Games values of Honesty and Teamwork.  Honesty was awarded to Langtons, Rise Park and St. Peter’s.  Teamwork went to Branfil, St. Mary’s and St Joseph’s.

Well done to everyone who took part in and supported this event.  Full results can be found under the Primary Results section of the website.  Photos can be found under the Primary Gallery.
