21 Mar Primary Netball League Finals
The Havering primary netball league semi finals and final were played on Friday 18th March at The Albany School. The 4 qualifying teams; Parsonage Farm, Ardleigh Green Junior, Clockhouse Primary and Newtons had all won their quarter final games during the previous week and the children were all excited and eager to play for the winners trophy. It was a bitterly cold day but there were plenty of parents cheering on the games and ensuring that all players had a positive afternoon. The teams were very evenly matched and the semi final matches were nail biting affairs, with Parsonage Farm beating Ardleigh Green by just 1 goal and Clockhouse sealing their place in the final by beating Newtons 11 goals to 6.
The final was very closely contested by Parsonage Farm and Clockhouse with spectators cheering on teams showing great sportsmanship. It was another exceptionally close game with Parsonage Farm coming out on top by 1 goal with a score of 12 goals to 11. In the playoff for third place Ardleigh Green managed to edge Newtons out by 8 goals to 5 in another very close match with some excellent play from both teams.
All children were awarded medals with the trophy going to Parsonage Farm and the shield to Clockhouse.
Our thanks must go to Sheila and Ed, our umpires from Marshalls Netball Club who officiated the games in a fair and professional manner. Thanks also to the Albany students who braved the cold to assist, and to The Albany School for allowing us to use their all weather courts.
