12 Feb Quicksticks Hockey
Our School Games quicksticks hockey competition for children in years 5 and 6 took place on the afternoon of Tuesday 12th February at Coopers Coborn school.
Seventeen schools brought teams to the event. Group matches were played with children displaying fantastic team work and support. Young leaders from Coopers umpired the games while student volunteers from Havering College helped to support the running of the event.
The top two teams from each group were placed in to a draw to produce a further two groups who played a round robin of games to produce the finalists. Branfil and Newtons Primary played a closely contested final with Branfil winning by 3 goals to 2. Congratulations to Branfil who will now go on to represent Havering in the borough finals on 28th March at Redbridge Sports Centre.
School games values for the event were teamwork and honesty. Teamwork was awarded to Harold Wood, Scargill and La Salette with honesty going to Harold Court, Parsonage Farm, Upminster Junior and Whybridge Junior.
Well done to all the children who participated in this event.
