Tennis Competition – Years 3 and 4

04 May Tennis Competition – Years 3 and 4

Grosvenor Tennis Club happily played host to the years 3 and 4 schools tennis competition on Thursday 4th May.

Leaders from Coopers Company and Coborn School managed the umpiring under the supervision of tennis coach Lee Duncan.  Each school had 2 girls and 2 boys and played a number of single matches to gain points for the team.   There were some great rallies and lots of enjoyment, despite the weather being rather cool and cloudy.

After the group stages of the competition, the School Games values were awarded to each participating school as follows.

Determination: Towers Junior
Honesty: Ardleigh Green Junior School
Respect: Upminster Junior School
Passion: Scotts Primary
Teamwork: Benhurst B Team
Self Belief: Benhurst A Team
Self Belief: Wykeham

The top 2 teams following the group stages were Upminster Junior School and Scotts Primary and they went on to play a final 4 single matches with Upminster Junior coming out on top winning 3 games to 1.  Congratulations to Upminster Junior will now represent Havering at the London School Games Finals at Crystal Palace on 6th July.

Tennis winners

To round the day off all the children had lots of fun taking part in a “round the world” skills session run by the Grosvenor coaches.

A huge thank you to Grosvenor Tennis Club and the tennis coaches and the leaders from Coopers Coborn School for giving us such a successful and fun afternoon.
